Those who learned the history of church accept the fact that the Great Awakening Movement in the 18thcentury in the United States by great men such as Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield and the Evangelism Revival in the United Kingdom led by George Whitefield and John Wesley brought energy, livelihood, and revival to the community of protestant churches that were asleep.
In South Korea and world, do you see any preacher like Jonathan Edwards or George Whitefield who preached about the true Holy Salvation by Holy Spirit and brought the Great Awakening Movement in the United States and United Kingdom?
(Many refer to these men, but few knew what they taught.)
Jonathan Edwards is accepted as the man of faith who completed the Theology of Puritans, one of the greatest Theologians, yet no preacher in the church community in Korea teaches his teachings in liturgy.
George Whitefield, the Calvinist, is considered a great preacher after Paul the Apostle, but no preacher in the church community in Korea teaches as he did.
On the contrary, many people either inwardly or apparently reject the life of Puritans characterized by complete soteriology and Holy life.
2. I almost never have met anyone who inwardly respects these great men, though everyone I met told me they love him.
It is foretold, however, by Jesus Christ our Savior before long generations in Matthew 23: 29 to 34.
29. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.
30. And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’
31. So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.
32. Go ahead, then, and complete what your ancestors started!
33. “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?
34. Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.
Why do these false prophets bring the names of these great men whom they inwardly dislike? It is because they are dead , and God our Father raised their names in Church history despite their torturing hardships in life. They think that praising their names would make them look good. Nonetheless, as soon as they hear about their great teachings, they reject and torture the one who brought the teachings. I have personally experienced this in countless occasions since the age of 20 when I was a freshman at the school of divinity.
3. If these great men were to be praised, shouldn’t their teachings be appreciated? In Korea, I almost never have seen such a person in Christian community putting so much high value on their teachings whatsoever. This is the hypocrisy of this wicked generation
4. If these great men did the Holy work of God our Father, their sermons and teachings should be valued with utmost care. Ironically, as far as I have experienced, there is almost no preacher in Korea who truly empathizes with their teachings and apply their teachings to Christians.
(If you are such preacher, let me know as soon as possible.)
5. The corruption and decay with secularization of Korean Church community cause extreme concern from Christian point of view, but most of the modern day Christians in Korea live without worry.
The true hope of these days is to recover the message of true rebirth by Jesus Christ our Lord, which I firmly believe.
